groove line to the dust ward

Disco Godfather (1979; d: J. Robert Wagoner)

Give this man some room...this most puzzling man.

"...the man of the hour!"

How can one be so effervescent and alive with dance, and yet so elusive...unknowable?

Witness every component shimmy and shimmer as a harrowed soul relentlessly gropes for escape.  A mesmerist, he must be...

What does he want from this world?  Why has he come?

As he spreads his fingers and his hands begin to flutter, it seems this marvel just might take to the air.

After all, the Disco Godfather has never needed wings to fly, or illicit substances.

Just give the man some room to get down.

A self-styled hoofer, Rudy Ray Moore boldly pivots from one rhythm to the next, beat be damned.

Brothers and sisters, take care of your end, and the Godfather will do the rest.

Now, seems like every party these days, some fool's got to flip.

“You know, you seem so different lately...”

“Just got a lot on my mind, that's all.”

The Godfather's nephew, Bucky (Julius Carry III), won't be swayed from an appointment with a dust dealer.

Oh, Bucky...star athlete and the hope and pride of the family, and he's out there messing with that goddamn angel dust.

“I can take care of myself! Look, I know what I'm doing.”

Having fun yet, Bucky?

“Where is Bucky—and what has he had?!”

“Bucky, what have you done to yourself?!”
